Abstract

There is a transition from traditional supply chains to smart supply chains, and factors such as flexibility, adaptability and traceability are becoming prominent. This study aims to assess the effects of integrating Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into sustainable logistics and supply chain management, focusing on their impact on critical performance measures. By combining theoretical insights with empirical evidence, the study aims to provide practical findings on the success factors of digital transformation strategies in the logistics sector. A comparative case study was conducted with three large logistics companies in Türkiye. Key performance criteria were identified through literature review and expert opinions, and their weights were calculated using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Each company's performance was then analyzed against these criteria, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses in adopting Blockchain and AI technologies. The integration of Blockchain and AI has been observed to significantly impact key areas such as operational efficiency, data security, and sustainability. However, challenges have also been identified regarding scalability and adoption of these technologies. While some companies have shown significant improvements in data security through Blockchain, others are using AI to improve operational performance. The study provides strategic recommendations for companies aiming to improve sustainability, security and efficiency. While blockchain and AI provide significant advantages, successful adoption requires overcoming challenges related to education, infrastructure and scalability. This research contributes to the literature by providing practical insights on business-to-business benchmarking and digital transformation in logistics.
